Still waiting for what I paid for. Started requesting replacement 4 days ago and still not shipped. Customer service hangs up on you and then when you call back it goes to voicemail. If you expect to get what you paid for...buy it somewhere else! And yes...I’ve beefed several of your employees to fix my concerns yet...no shipping, no product and still making claims that refute what your website advertised.

Never had worse hair than this in my life I will be forced into going brown for the first time in over 10 years. I did it exactly how the instructions told me and my hair is a mix of orange, yellow and gold it makes me sick. Will NEVER EVER be using again and will be requesting a full refund along with compensation for emotional distress.

The light color is good but I wasn’t familiar with highlighting my hair. The consistency is dry ( but the instructions state that anyways) so it didn’t feel like I was able to saturate the ends of the highlights. Middle section was kinda chunky. Maybe with time it’ll be better for me. My first try to highlight.

I have ordered Medium/Dark blond Highlights, the product seemed great and great reviews. I watched the instructions video around 3 times to make sure I was doing all the process correct. After rinse the hair I realize that the color was orange instead of blond but I thought that the hair toner would fix it. Anyway I have orange highlights and that was very dissapointing.
eSalon was very helpful explaining that I should use a toner to make the highlights clear but that is gonna take a while, I expected to have my hair done by the end of the day and not in a month time or more.
I am disapointed and I would not reccomend the product as the result is not as advertised.

I have hair that seems to pull ginger hence why I tried esalon and sent a photo. Thankfully I've only done a strand test as even after the recommended time and toning mask, surprise surprise my strand is ginger not blonde and I can feel that it's dried it out. Complete waste of my money, i'll wait until salons reopen and put up with my natural roots including grey 'hilights' for now.

I was told they couldn’t do color cuz they didn’t like the match. They said highlights would work. So went from $10 bucks to $40 something.
I have lots of grey hair and very thick and very long this wasn’t enough for one section!
No directions that make sense. Plus the card they sent said

2- highlights next
I received No color!! I paid a lot of money for nothing! Will not use again

The actual highlighting part was good. My hair turned out good. The toning mask wasn't the greatest. It really didn't do anything to tame the orange/brass color. I recommend using a different toner if you purchase this kit.

For me, this was a disaster. I had such high hopes too. I applied it just as the instructions and video demonstrated. It lightened my hair A LOT. So if you’re wanting more than subtle results on darker hair, it works great. But on me, it turned my brunette hair bright orange!!! The toner seemed to make it worse. I look like I tried to mimic weird tiger stripes on my head. I’m actually thankful that quarantine has me stuck at home. I’m not sure how to fix it. But I definitely won’t be using the Light Set again.

The colour itself works as described, my hair is very yellow (that’s my bad skills). However my grey didn’t cover at all. Mad at myself for bleaching my hair further, going to go back dark again. Esalon is a great service, this colour just wasn’t a good fit for me.

I watched the how-to video multiple times, but application still ended up being more difficult than I anticipated. The highlights on the lower sections turned out to be a nice blonde color, but the ones on the last/top section turned out more orange/brassy, even after using the toning mask. I think another 10-15 minutes of processing time would've helped the top turn out more blonde, but I followed the instructions I was provided, and it looked like it was lifted, until I rinsed it out. Overall not super impressed, but the other two layers did achieve the light color I was looking for - but the part that is exposed, I have to wear my hair a certain way in order to minimize the orange/brassy look.

I may try this again, depending on what my consultant says. My hair is very thin and fine. I timed it according to the instructions, but the highlights are very brassy, even after 2 applications of the toner mask. Next time, I’ll cut the processing time, and apply to very thin strips of hair with my fingers instead of a brush.

The printed instructions were okay but it was much more helpful to watch the video.
My highlights came out much lighter than I expected. I followed the application instructions and did not let it process longer than my directions said. I used the toning mask after but they still had a yellowish/orange-ish tint. I'm not saying I didn't make a mistake but it also didn't turn out how I wanted.

Maybe it’s all in refining the application technique but for me the hilights were barely noticeable. I’m not sure if I didn’t order the right kit, didn’t apply enough product or if it should be left on longer than the instructions. I wish the instructions/video had more detail.

I was quite disappointed with the product. I ordered the copper/mahogany set, and expected highlights in a light red/copper shade. They came out straight-out brassy blond, and the tone didn’t match my auburn hair at all. The toning mask really didn’t change anything. This was only one of two problems, though. I have a thick head of long hair, and I ran out of product right at the top of my head. The areas where I conserved product turned out spotty and uneven, not to mention the lack of highlights on the top of my head.
I’ve been a long-time customer of eSalon hair color, but I will never purchase this again.

I have been an esalon customer since 2013. I just realized that my custom color is really nothing more than a standard medium brown.... while the dispenser has gotten cheaper. The plastic bottle with the color has broken a couple of times. I used to be able to mix up half bottle for one treatment.... but the plastic containers are now so cheap that they are single use. In order to save on shipping I tried to double up the order - but guess what.... system won’t let you order 2.... I will try Margaret Reed. Maybe I like their product and customer service better!

Unfortunately this did not work for me at all. It turned my hair orange and I had to dye over it the next day with brown box dye.
It may be that this only works well for light/ blond hair but not for blades brown hair. The highlights have now started to come through again all orange so will have to redye

The colour turned out really even, no lines or anything. Very easy to use. However, it didn't give me blonde highlights, it gave me bright ginger highlights and that is definitely not what I wanted lol not sure how to fix? Do I go over it again with another light kit?

this product is not bad may be for blonds but definitely no for brunette. I ended up with different colors, orange, penny brassy and a few but very few nice brown highlights. I would consider their colors but not the highlights, I used the whole tube of toner, since I have a lot of hair, but still did not bring the color down. I need to kill the orange brassy color, !!1

I had so much trouble with this, love the balayage approach - but my hair is so curly was not able to achieve the technique illustrated in youtube video and color was not applied in a way to get effective results - would not recommend for those of us with fine curly hair.

Highlights are tricky to get right. I watched videos and tried it against my better judgment. If you have dark hair and are brunette be very careful. I came out with orange streaks. Very Geri spice from Spice Girl. Not what I was going for. I think blondes may have better luck.

Instructions were easy to read and it seem pretty easy after watching the video but it wasn't. If you have no experience ask a friend or someone you trust for help so you don't end up with patches.

There was not enough product to cover all of the sections I had to do plus some of the color ended up orange. I am not sure if this is because it needed to be left on longer than 35 minutes or wrong color?

There isn’t enough for my head of hair. It seems as though they would put enough for any hair type. I have long fine blonde hair but a lot of it. Because I was trying to conserve the bleach it looks splotchy. Then there definitely wasn’t enough toner either for my hair. Now I have blonde and orange pieces all over that won’t come out. I had to order another toner from Amazon because the tiny bottle wasn’t enough.

I was really hoping that this light set would give my hair a bit of highlights - but nada. I followed the directions perfectly and it imparted a bit of reddish tint (which I do not like). Perhaps this just doesn't work for my hair and may work for others. I won't be trying this product again.

I had very high hopes for this light set but I wouldn’t recommend it to brunettes as it turned my brown hair orange. It seems as though you have to be a blonde to have success with this kit. I now see other brunette reviewers posting about the same experience. This is too bad.

If you have dark brown hair, please don’t use this unless you want to have pumpkin orange hair! I should have known better! The bleach dries on the hair almost immediately, which renders it useless. They should really have you wrap the hair in something or apply heat! I color my hair with eSalon’s “darkest brown” shade and I chose the Light Set in dark brunette, because I wanted to try and give my hair some dimension. I followed the instructions exactly and ended up with bright orange stripes. Please go watch a few YouTube videos or go to a professional if you have dark brown hair. I wish I would have!

I had been using the custom colour set for a few months. I loved how my hair felt afterwards, especially since I only ever used it as "highlights" in my hair while maintaining my red colour. Well, that was my intention, but instead my hair got darker and darker.
I bought this light set thinking it was going to be light red-brown. Instead, it straight up bleached my hair. No colour. It looked horrible, reminiscent of those girls in high school who tried to bleach their own highlights but ended up YELLOW and looking brassy and chunky and awful. The instructions weren't super clear, so was there maybe supposed to be more to mix together than the powder and one small liquid bottle? There also was only one set of gloves, despite the instructions calling for two separate times to wear gloves.
Would not recommend this product.

I did not find the product easy to use. I ended up with some blobs of very light hair about an inch out from my scalp. I had to keep parting and styling my hair to cover these places. The color and product was good, just the application wasn't. I've used foils on myself before, and this method would be better. I'll stick to using foils or letting someone else do my highlights.

I like the dimensions it added but some strips are more orange, which I didn't want. The smaller strips look much better.

Highlight color not close to custom color

So...I honestly thought I had ordered custom all over color instead of highlight but thought, why not? Maybe this would be healthier for my hair and if I was going to the salon this is what my hairdresser would do. Well...I would not suggest highlighting without a friend to do the application as I found it extremely awkward to get the back and the mixture was extremely chalky even after mixing and mixing. How did the color turn out? I’m now a straight up blonde on top and a redhead on the bottom. It’s definitely still 2020 isn’t it? Gotta have a sense of humor or I may just cry. Can anyone advise how long before I can safely re-color?

This color was not what I expected. I ended up with what I feared I would get from box color: brassy, warm blonde. The color is not at all what I had hoped, even after leaving the toner on for some additional time. It definitely was not worth the cost, since I now have to go purchase additional toner to get my cooler, beige blonde tone. I will not be using this product again. I got “box highlights” for about 3 times the price.

I was not happy with the way my hair turned out after using this set. I wanted a two-toned mahogany color with darker and lighter pieces of the brown to blend together, and what I got with this light set after it was recommended by my colorist, made my hair turn a brassy Orange color that I'm still trying to correct. I had sent quite a few emails to my colourist with questions to make sure what my end result was going to be and I felt as though the colorists willingness to just agree with me without really hearing me led to it end result which I did not want.

There wasn’t enough lightener to do all my highlights. I may just have more hair then others but there was no way I could do all my highlights with the lightener provided. I tried following the video the closest I could. But if I had I would have likely missed a lot of layers in between I ended up needing more sections.

I really wanted to love this product after reading the reviews and watching YouTubers. The color initially showed up on the back but not on the strands framing my face, and with time (2-3 weeks) got brittle and patchy. After every wash I noticed the color get lighter and more uneven progressively. The worst part was my hair became extremely brittle and started to break off in clumps. I had to wait weeks to recolor it and have lots of grays, so my hair looked even worse with time. Especially since I was afraid of damaging it more with heated tools, so I would even avoid blow drying it. I spent quite a bit of $$ to repair it and had to cut quite a bit off. Even the moisture mask barely worked at that point because it was so dry. I do use esalon hair color regularly which has been pretty good. My experience with this product in particular was really disappointing. For reference I have dark brown hair that I dye black. It's thick and wavy. It was down to my waist but now comes up to my shoulders.

Less is more with these highlights. The color is very inconsistent. Some highlights are barely visible while large chunks of them are bright orange. Not sure I can wait for my next color to fix this.

I was super excited to try my new light set. I followed the instructions to a T, particularly the amount of time needed to make it work. I wasn't expecting anything dramatic but the effect is hardly noticeable at all. Very disappointing after spending the best part of two hours putting in the lights and doing the two rounds of hair wash

There is not way this one bowl will highlight my hair. I was only able to highlight my lower and middle section...I don't have enough formula to highlight my top layer. I followed the directions and only did think strips 1 inch wide and made sure the whole strand was saturated to the tip. There is just not enough here to do your whole head according to these directions. It would have been nice if my colorist saw my photos and how long my hair is and advised I got a second (or third) box so I could highlight my hair in one sweep. I will need to order 2 more sets in order to finish properly. I'm pretty disappointed.

Not good for first time highlights. It turned my head orange and red. Toner creme was purple and only tones yellow tones out. Need blue toner creme to work. Plus I had to go to sally beauty to get a toner to fix it. Still orange but not as bad.

I don't know if I left product on too long (don't think so), but when the process was completed my hair hilites were a brassy coppery orangey color. Hated it !!

The light set is easy to use and the video does a good job explaining how to achieve highlights. But the mask does not tone hair enough. I used the mask twice and my highlights where still VERY brassy. I had to use a separate toner to achieve the look I was going for.

Despite my reaching out 2x customer service never addressed any issues. Esalon keeps charging me for the same bad color but does not actually reach out to fix the issue.

I followed the directions and watched tutorials online and the website but still did not get the desired results I wanted. I also feel that I’m doing the highlights I damaged my hair a bit. It’s been extremely dry and brittle, not sure if I should attribute it to the light set or using the color care shampoo and conditioner.

I never received my order even if they said it was on its way. We exchanged many email on the subject and each time they said it was with the shipping company but one time one of the staff told me he was going to ship another one to me immediately and then realized the color was back order and couldn't send a new set to me. I wonder if it was the case all along since according to the shipping record, no tracking for the item left with the shipping company.
