The first one I ordered was a bit too dark. For the follow-up color I requested an adjustment and it was exactly what I wanted. The colorist really do a great job of making changes to get exactly what you want.

As one who has spent 35 years going to a salon to have hair colored, I was terrified to do it myself. My uncolored hair is very gray (just about white) and after letting it grow out about 3-4 inches, I decided the gray wasn't for me. After researching options, I liked that eSalon developed a system to match color based on providing a picture, completing questions, and having stylists on staff to answer questions, so I took a chance.
When I did a strand test, the color was too light and barely covered the gray, so I called eSalon and spoke with Heather who helped to determine that the color formula needed an adjustment. She also took the time to ask about my previous salon experience with color and reviewed the picture of my hair on file as we spoke. She explained why an adjustment was needed and sent out a complimentary new color kit to try again. Also, since my gray was so grown out, she sent a little extra to ensure I would be able to cover it all.
I will need a little more practice doing it myself, but the color is amazing! It matches the base color of my ends (I had highlights), it is shiny, it penetrated my gray, and after 3 weeks, it has not faded! My expensive salon color always faded after a few weeks despite using shampoo for colored hair. I love that everything needed to color was in the box (instructons, shampoo/cond., 2 pairs of gloves, brush, and bottle).
I am high risk for COVID, so going to the salon is not an option for me. Thank you eSalon for the wonderful product, support, video, and availability during this time. I don't see spending so much money on color at a salon ever again! :)

Loving this service. Unfortunately the shipping can be a bit lengthy if ordering for Canada. So please take this into account. I have found the communication with the colorists top notch. I have had to tweek my colour a couple of times and have found the online and phone in help line excellent.

I have been ordering eSalon color during the pandemic. The color is perfect and
it is easy to follow the instruction to apply. (Best done by a helper)
My main complaint is the shipping is very slow and unpredictable even when the order
is well in advance of the use date. Post office uses a private service carrier that is terrible.
Would like to order highlight kit which is said to be out of stock.

I hate this color. Everyone I know has said how wrong it is and how it's nothing like the color I usually get. I wanted a dark Auburn, I got something almost black. My family says I look awful, and the kindest thing anyone can say is at least it's during the pandemic and so I don't have to see anyone. It's so dark customer service says there's nothing I can do but wait, and maybe color my roots as it grows out. Instead of feeling better about myself I feel awful and self conscious. I wish I'd bought the store brand. This is awful.

When the box arrived I opened it and saw that the bottle had my name on it. I felt like royalty LOL it was such a nice feeling. It came with a brush to apply the color and gloves all placed neatly in the box. Before I applied this product to my hair, my hair felt dry, damaged, and frizzy it was just sad. When I first applied this product to my hair it felt different. It felt creamy (not in a bad way). It did not have a strong chemical order which was unexpected. Hair dying products I used always have a strong order which I always heated. After I washed and used the shampoo and conditioner it smelled really nice. When I blowdried it, I immediately saw and felt the difference. It looked healthier and felt soft when I ran my fingers through it. I don't think I will ever go back to the box color again.

Was easy to use and put on. Was very strong ammonia smell and almost choked on the fumes in the shower when rubbing in the water with remaining colour. Hair was super soft afterwards and colour was very good although not a vibrant enough red for me, And don’t think there’s a more vibrant red to change to, so I personally wouldn’t use again because of this but if you’re hair is more brown or blond it’s a great way of getting a lovely colour That looks professional.

I have been more pleased than I could imagine, My only issue is not being able to manipulate the back of my head which is DEFINITELY A PERSONAL PROBLEM. Esalon has been great with my color as well as ease of instructions when using the product alone in quarantine, THANK YOU ESALON!

Color is great as always but not thrilled with the Caviar shampoo and conditioner. Made my hair too limp and the amount in the packets is so small, it barely was enough for a shampoo although it did produce a lot of "suds"

I went a shade lighter and it it is much more flattering. It’s a shame there is only 1 pair of gloves now. I ended up using a second pair I had because reusing the one pair for both parts of the process wasn’t going to work.

Love, love, love my color. Just a bit too dark. I come from a long line of redheads but didn't get the red hair. What I did get was very dark brown hair with beautiful red highlights. I want a shade or two lighter brown, no red. No matter what I do, that red comes through on its own.

I love the color that my hair turned out for the most part. However, about 2 weeks after I colored my hair, following the directions exaclty. All of my white hairs around my temples have come back. The dye had completely washed out. This is the only problem I have had this far though.

Die Farbmischung ist sehr gut. Das Ergebnis sieht sehr schön aus und hält lange.
Was mir aufgefallen ist, dass beim aufschäumen der Farbe eine sehr starke geruchsentwicklung entsteht. Dieser Geruch ist extrem intensiv und etwas unangenehm.

I put off colouring my hair during lockdown but the greys became too much, I was really impressed with the colour match to my existing colour, and the grey coverage. I'm now 4 weeks post colouring and only my new regrowth is showing (ie the colour hasn't faded anywhere else). I found the smell very strong (ammonia) which was a little shock after salon hair dyes, The application was very easy and instructions and video were clear. I've only rated down one star due to the strong smell.

I really enjoy my hair color however the first week or so it's almost embarrassing black I feel like a goth kid. However, after a few washes it's the perfect brown color. I just bun my hair until it fades a bit.

I have not tried this one yet as it is supposed to have been changed a little to help cover the gray. I have used this in the past and I love the color but recently is isn’t lasting long. So we will see about the change. I will let you know!!

Ich liebe die Farbe in den Längen, und die Anwendung ist sehr einfach. Leider ist mir jetzt aufgefallen, dass ich quasi "Streifen" im Haar habe. Man sieht quasi die Breite des Ansatzes, den ich jeweils nachgefärbt habe. Wahrscheinlich ist das nur mir im komischen Licht vor dem Spiegel aufgefallen, aber es ist mir aufgefallen.
Die Farbe riecht auch sehr streng beim anrühren. Dafür färbt sie nix wirklich ein, falls man mal kleckert, und das Kit mit den Handschuhen etc ist super

Team, I love everything about my kit (the color protector, wipes, ease of use, the color itself) except.... I just did it two weeks ago and already the grey roots are showing??? Shouldn't it last longer than two weeks? I don't wash my hair every day at all...in fact sometimes it is 3 days in between....I know I left it on the full time and maybe a few minutes longer? Shouldn't it last longer? Also, can I get an all-over clear gloss application?

The shade of my last order was a little darker than usual. When I mixed the color I noticed a difference, specially when I had finished applying it. I was worried and rinsed my hair right away. It turned out slightly darker, but I have to say that this formula was not as harsh on my hair. My hair was actually soft and manageable this time.

I liked how my hair felt after, and that the aroma of the dye wasn't pungent and didn't linger afterwards. My only complaint is that unless I'm in sunlight you can't notice the change of color in my hair. I've sent my adjustments to my colorist and hope the next color will be more on point. But I did like the product and will continue to order.

With me not really knowing what I was doing choosing my color, I think I did a fairly decent job. It may be just slightly darker than my colored hair, but it blends okay. I had my friend put it on for me because she's used to doing it.

I have already completed a feedback on my first colour, that was obviously ignored because I goy a “ so glad you liked your colour” email. Makes me wonder if this is as individual a service as described. I said the colour had an orange/brown hew to it. Although it was easy to use and the consistency was thick so didn’t drip all over. I used a bowl and brush but found despite following the instructions that not all the grey in my temple area was covered

Very nice color, although I think I need to go lighter to match my natural color—which is what I’m looking for. I’ll let the colorist know for the next round. I am disappointed the LightSet continues to be out of stock because the best thing about my naturally red hair was all the shades from blonde to auburn that were in it. I don’t need to reproduce all the shades now that I’m coloring to cover gray (gray wasn’t one of the colors I wanted to keep in my hair, haha), but being able to at least do highlights is important.

I love the color. I did notice that after a couple weeks it started fading aroumd my hairline where it's gray and so that gray showed through. Maybe some adjustment needs to be made?
