I was very excited to try dying my hair with my 'custom color' which was dark brown with gold tones. However, when I finally took the plunge and time to dye my hair, I was sadly disappointed. Instead of the color as stated, I wound up with brownish-gold and gray roots along with my already dark brown hair. I left the product on AMPLE time and followed the instructions so there's no reason a custom color couldn't do what any over-the-counter hair dye could: COVER THE GRAY! That WAS the point of this whole exercise after all (at least for me it was). Looks like it's back to L'oreal while still sheltered in place!

I was disappointed that my grey roots ended up lighter than the rest of my hair. After just two weeks the grey color went to light brown grey which was worse than the gray roots I started with. I found the ammonia to be overwhelming.

das was meine zweite Bestellung mit Farbänderung gewesen. Von mittelbraun gold kupfer auf Mittelbrauch asch.
Da schickt man mir nur eine Tube Farbe, obwohl man weiss das ich sehr lange Haare habe.
Als ich das Paket bekommen habe waren zwei Tuben und Entwickler, wo drauf stand 1 für Ansatz 2 für Farbe. Ich hatte aber noch einen Farbauffrischer und Tinte Rinse mitbestellt.
Ich schrieb der Firma das der Farbauffrischer wohl fehlt. Aber da man erst nach 4 Wertagen eine Antwort bekommt habe ich meine Haare nach Anweisung gefärbt. Ansätze sind in Ordnung gewesen die Farbe hat mit gefallen aber an den Längen habe ich keinen Unterschied zu meiner vorherigen Haarfarbe gesehen. Doch einen Unterschied gab es, dass die Haare grünlich am schimmern waren.
Daraufhin habe ich der Firma das geschildert. Ich habe dann auf meine erste mail eine Nachricht bekommen, dass mit der Lieferung alles in Ordnung sei und das die zweite Tube der Farbauffrischer ist.
Auf meine Nachricht mit dem grünstich habe ich bis heute keine Nachricht bekommen.
Also mein Fazit ist:
1. sehr schlechte Kommunikation. Auch bei Corona Zeiten können die Coloristen wenigestens auf die Nachrichten im Home office Antworten.
2. die coloristen sprechen schlecht Deutsch so das ich am Telefon mal dachte ob die mich wirklich auch verstanden hat.
3. Da wird nicht mitgedacht. Wenn man mit sehr langen Haaren eine Farbänderung haben möchte liegt es wohl auf der Hand, dass diejenige zwei Tuben Farbe braucht.
Echt schade, aber dafür sind mir meine Nerven und meine Zeit zu schade. Werde eine andere Firma suchen. Im Internet habe ich gegen Grünstich Zitronensaft gelesen habe es angewandt ist ein wenig besser geworden. Jetzt warte ich das meine Friseurin wieder aufmacht.

I sent pics and looked at the pics online but the color was too dark. I normally purchase medium ash brown Clairol
Root touch up for in between salon styling. But the esalon medium ash brown was DARK ASH brown. Very disappointed.

I really like the color, the match is perfect. The packaging and tools are great, the shampoo/conditioner is great but I think that the gray coverage is not the best. I last colored 9 days ago and there are little grays re-emerging right along the front hair line right at my forehead. Additionally, the color seems quite drying. This isn't a huge issue as I can deep condition as needed but still an issue since I have used store bought box colors that actually improved the overall condition. If I could get that level of condition with this level of color I would never go to a salon.

This is the second time I’ve tried Esalon in the last six years. Both times I’ve wanted all over color and both times they only sent me root touchup color. My gray roots took the Esalon color for four days and then my gray was super obvious once again. Never again!

I was embarrassed when I saw the color. It was not what I expected and I tried hard to make sure that I provided pictures and information to get the right shade or very close to it. I just talked with a representative and they are sending me a highlighter kit and the next color free, so I am trying to see what happens, but I am discouraged that it's so much darker than I expected.

I was so excited for my color to get here because it was “created for me”. My color choice was darkest brown mahogany copper stated my color was soft black and from the color match it SHOULD have been just as the description of my color selection . But I ended up with blackest black !! I never was that dark as a kid....it’s as if I walk into any store and purchased an inexpensive boxed color. I wanted dimensions in color but ended up with terrible flat chalkboard black 😖

I was scared to try this new product at first, it took me a week to open the box, the instructions were really clear, many steps to it and I thought the process was going well until I washed it out and it stained my bathtub. My hair looked dark more black than any blue and a bit dry. It did look natural on me, regular black color. After a week I noticed the color seemed to be fading, which was disappointing and my whites were appearing, Not sure I want to retry knowing the cleanup that awaits me.

First order, root colour one nearly there just a little too dark, colour two lengths and ends, far too light only colour showing is bright coppper didn’t blend at all with colour one there was a stripe line where the colours meet. Thankfully I did a strand test and I don’t have a full head of these colours.

Nachdem ich meine Haare frisch gefärbt habe, war ich sehr positiv über das Ergebnis überrascht. Die Farbe war genauso wie ich sie mir vorgestellt habe. Nach einer Woche kamen dann leider schon meine grauen Haare deutlich zum Vorschein und nach zwei Wochen war die Farbe bereits stark rausgewaschen.

I have hard to color gray. I made sure I noted this on esalon. My box from the grocery store works better! This was a waste of time and double the cost. A lot of my gray did take the color and the ones that did look blonde. I did everything just like the directions and I am not new to using box color. Try another brand don't waste you money!

I followed the instructions. Product did not cover my grey at all. I was not offered a refund but told they would adjust the formula and send me a new kit (which I would pay for). Several weeks later, the new kit hasn’t come. I’ve used a store before and it works better and is less of a hassle.

I was under the impression that this color was "brown" with "purple highlights" but I was very wrong! There wasn't a glimpse of purple of any sort in my color & it didn't even color all my silver (Not grays lol) So I will not be reordering from your company...I'd rather let my silver come in & show my wisdom👩🏻🦳 Thank you for trying though!

My color was a cool blonde. It was applied as described. The processing of color looked good - very similar to salon, but the end result was very disappointing. My natural hair is very gray, almost white and the eSalon color had no impact on roots at all. Even with a 20 vol developer, no change, other than my hair felt a bit dryer. Sorry - As I said, high hopes, but did not work at all for me.

Roots are still gray

I had someone apply color to my hair carefully, covering all the grays. After I washed my hair by the provided shampoo and conditioner, most of the roots were still gray. I timed it and kept the color on for 40 mins. I am not sure what should I have done differently, but the outcome was not satisfactory. I thought i will apply it again, but in few hours the color foamed out of the bottle. So, I still have all my grays even after doing everything right and following the instructions. Very disappointed with my first order.

Not as bright or as orange as I would have liked or as orange as what I get from my drugstore colour. I guess I really should have talked to a colourist. Lesson learned. Next time.

I was so excited to try this, but the color is nothing like I expected, which is part of the risk I anticipated. It's very pretty, but it's RED. I was not going for red at all. My hair is super soft, so that's a plus. The product was a little harsh for my sensitive skin/scalp and in my stand alone shower the fumes were burning my eyes a bit.

I finally received my color we did a test area color seemed ok. We did the process as directed. Humm color didn't cover the grays well and its not a dark and more red than mahogany. When I placed the order I was almost 5 weeks from last professional color, by time I received color I was almost another 4 weeks. Giving me almost 9 weeks since color so a lot more. gray. Applying color was easy just not thrilled with color as it is more strawberry than mahogany. I figured since im working from home now was a good time to try something darker richer,.

Not happy at all. My hair was a light auburn. This dye made it feel crunchy and turned it dark brown, black in some areas. Except the greys. Those are still there.

I got this with the thought of wanting to dye my hair dark blonde. I got the semi permanent dye because if i didn’t like it then it would wash out. Once i got my kit it was put together very nice and easy to understand what to do but my hair turned out very orange and not dark at all. I have emailed support and they have not answered me after a week.

Absolutely terrible colour, and I don’t know how to fix it

Not even remotely close to what I had imagined or my natural colour. My ends are darker than my roots in a terrible cherry red. My roots are a lighter Cooper brown and lighter than my ends, but blotchy colour. The copper latched on to my front and the grey are now brown. But not a brown that is the same as my natural dark medium brown. There is nothing consistent, natural looking or close to an medium brown with some Cooper. The red given to touch up my ends is so unbelievably fake looking I haven’t had hair this bad since I started dying my hair in junior high. I’m not even sure how I’m going to fix this with all salons being closed because of COviD.

Ich hatte mehrere Male E-Mail Kontakt, super nette & hilfsbereite Menschen, aber die Farbe die ich bestellt hatte gleicht leider so gar nicht der auf meinem Kopf.

I followed all the instructions carefully and fully. This did not lighten my hair a couple of shades as promised. It made my hair noticeably darker. If 20vol developer isn’t strong enough for some people’s hair, that should be better acknowledged on the site!

I chose the color I wanted via the color chart- it looks nothing like that at all. Its darker, I even screenshot the color I wanted- it was closer to the color I had before. I am very unimpressed. I followed the instructions to a tee. My birthday is coming up and although it doesn't look like it got botched- it doesn't look like what I wanted or had picked out. I should have stuck to box coloring instead. Very unimpressed.

I went through and entered my hair and color information as accurately as possible. My hair was golden and I wanted more of an ash color. When I received my Dark Blonde Ash color I didn't expect it to be spectacular, but I expected it to change. The result was just a more noticeable golden color. It was supposed to be a darker color compared to what my hair was. The least I expected was less gold and more ash or even just a darker blonde. Unfortunately I will have to recolor or use a color remover now.

I ordered a pearl mahogany color after I read a review recommending this product. While the instructions were easy to follow and the product was very gentle on my scalp (I usually have issues with dyes stinging and itching), my roots, which were quite prominent with my previous hair color, are the just as dark, while the dye is not nearly as red as advertised. The color is more of an ash brown. This would absolutely be a product that I recommend to others if the color has been correct.

Sehr schon verpackt mit personifiziertem Aufkleber auf der eigenen Farbflasche und einem hübschen Karton. Die Farbe war aber letztendlich nicht im entferntesten die auf dem Foto. Es war eher ein Feuerrot, das ich einen Tag ausgehalten habe und es dann überfärbt habe.
Ich glaube es gibt vieles, was digital funktioniert. Aber eine Haaranalyse und Expertenberatung ist wohl eher schwierig. Die Farbe selbst riecht sehr chemisch. In meinem Fall war sie auch nicht sonderlich gleichmäßig obwohl ich mich strikt an die Anleitung gehalten habe. I really wanted this to work. But unfortunately after following all the instructions I can't even see a tint of colour peeping through. Part of the problem as well was that the colour I chose was the lightest one that was available, as the colours lighter, which my hair probably needed, were unavailable to me. My hair is black and I had high hopes for esalon that it would work. Very sad not to be able to give a good review.

I have no way to contact esalon so i will do it via a review. This hair color which was meant to cover the grey on my roots did NOTHING. ZERO coverage of grey hairs. Dont waste your money.

Prefer ash blonde but when I dyed my hair the color was to brassy. My hair looked like a copper red color. I thought maybe it was just the first time but no it was every time. I wrote a request online for an adjustment but the color was not adjusted. Not happy.

The color itself was spot on and easy to use, unfortunately, it did not cover a fair amount of my gray. Very disappointed since I waited almost 2 weeks to receive this. Followed the directions to a "T", perhaps keeping it on longer to process? Unsure since it stated 30 minutes. Will have to re-color soon. Unsure if I would try this again.

Also, ich muss sagen die Deckkraft war einfach Klasse.
Es war nur nicht so geworden wie ich es wollte.
Die Farbe war genau so wie die Farbe auf meinem Bild.
Ich hatte aber ein leuchtende, mit Farbaktienten gewollte.
Mehr ins Orang-Rote rein.
Die Farbe war einfach langweilig.
Sie sollte in die Richtung gehen wie das Irische Rot-Orange.
Die Farbe hatte keinen Glanz, sie sah stumpf aus.
Leider.
Den von der Deckkraft war ich echt überzeugt.
Und für das Geld hab ich etwas anderes erwartet.
Was noch gut war, war das mein Haar echt gesund aussah und nicht trocken wurde.

Not the right shade and no gray coverage

I spent a lot of time adding pictures, explaining what I was looking for. None of this was taken into account for my “custom” blend and I’m almost positive the shade was just sent as is with no customization. When I stated that the color didn’t work for me (was not even close to the shade I asked for, gave me hot roots, and didn’t cover grays) I was basically met with insinuations that I was too old to get the shade I wanted, the colorist stating that the models in the photos I sent “didn’t look like they were also trying to cover grays”. I’m 34. Maybe this is a good solution if you want exactly the shades they have available, but if you are looking for customization or the kind of consultation/thought you’d get in the salon, look elsewhere. I’m just gonna try blending my own with products from Sally’s, little tip that maybe these “master colorists” could use: when blending yourself, use the percent of a natural color (i.e, brown) corresponding to the percent of gray hair you have. So, for me I have about 20% gray, so I’m planning on using 20% brown, the rest bright red (my desired shade). Good luck! Hope your results work better than mine!

Die Anwendung ist sehr einfach, auch mit meiner sehr empfindlichen Kopfhaut gab es keine Probleme.
Aber: leider hat die Farbe nicht gedeckt. Die ersten Tage sah das Ergebnis noch ganz ok aus, daber bereits nach einer Woche war der Ansatz wieder deutlich sichtbar, fast wie vor der Anwendng.
