It was fun receiving my eSalon purchase in the mail: impressively put-together package! The personalization was awesome, and made me feel special!
Getting to the directions--I had to read and re-read them several times. It just seemed as if some steps were not spelled out in a clarifying matter. But, once I started the process, it seemed to make more sense. Sectioning off my hair, tho, as described, would have been much easier if I'd had a second person to help.
As for my specific color formulation -- it was a good, final color...it just didn't "pop" for me. Even my husband made the remark "It looks like what your natural hair color must look like." (We've only been married a year and a half.) And indeed, it looked just like my natural brown. Not only to cover my gray, but I also color my hair to add some oomph to my boring, old brown. My eyes are a light brown, but with a gold to them in the sunlight (per my husband.) So, I try to add some dark red highlights, but not coppery, orange. Hope I can send a picture with this....
Now, 3-4 weeks after my initial use of my personalized formula, I was somewhat disappointed in the short length of time the color stayed. I'm talking within 2 weeks, the gray was already back -- and it was such a sudden change, and enough of it, that I wondered if the color didn't simply coat the hair which abruptly "fell" off.
Again, I did not have a NEGATIVE experience, but I was NOT SATISFIED ENOUGH to commit to being a life-long customer, either.

I have loved the healthiness of my hair after use on my past uses but this time it left my hair dried out. Even washing it out I could feel the change. It was hard and felt knotted up. The color has been excellent and the coverge lasts almost a full 7 weeks, I've been waiting 8 to recolor.

My hair is naturally a golden reddish brown and I decided to change it to a dark browish purple. I was provided a devloper and liquid color. The process is easy and the packaging looks nice. I followed all of the instructions and I've done my hair multiple times by myself. My stylist usually just mixes product for me and I apply it. (she's a close friend) Well I was busy and she was away so I tried this out. When I went to rinse the product my hair felt like straw!!! I had to use my Aveda moisture rich shampoo and deep conditioner right away bc it was super brittle!!
I spoke to my stylist and told her what happened and she said IN NO WAY THIS A SALON STYLE PRODUCT. She said this is color from a Sallys or beauty salon. She said they should have only used a 6 on my ends and a 10 on my roots. They used a 20 and now my hair is BLACK.
I'm cancelling my next order and will not use them again. That's what I get for trying to save a little money.

I've been getting my hair colored for over 30 years, both at home and in a salon. For the past 15 years, it's been exclusively at the salon. Since I'm starting to get grey hair, I wanted to try out the improved at home options. After careful consideration, I selected a color and ordered from eSalon.com. I had considered another brand for at home color, but I found eSalon's questionnaire to be more complete so I felt more confident in getting the right color. The product was packaged beautifully and was shipped quickly. The instructions were detailed and the application wasn't as difficult as I thought it would be. When I dried my hair, I would have rated this a 4 star product. Th reason that I'm giving this a one star review is that the colored faded to a "blah" color within a 8 days. I used to wash my hair everyday, but now that I'm getting older, I can easily go every two or three days. I can't even imagine how flat and washed out that the color will be in a few more washes. I was looking for a convenient at home color option to last 6-8 weeks, but this isn't going to work for me. I will likely try the other brand that's been showing up on my Facebook feed for women over 40 to see if their color will last longer. Perhaps with virgin hair this might be a good option, but it wasn't for me. If the original color had even last two weeks, I might reconsider but I'm better off at the salon and pay someone for a higher quality, longer lasting color.

I love how it's made for me- but I really was expecting it to be much lighter my hair has never been this dark ever. When I let you all know you went out of the way to replace with lighter colors for no charge! I really looked forward to using this. I lost my job and have been cutting out all "luxuries" for myself but wanted to do something to look better and feel better. I sent photos, I explained the condition of my hair and what I wanted. I had gray roots that I wanted covered and I wanted my hair color to be shiny and natural looking. I used it today and could not be more upset. After coloring and using the shampoo and conditioner I couldn't even run my fingers through my wet hair because my hair was so gummy. I rinsed again and again and again, no extra color was coming out. I blowdryed my hair. Just awful. Gummy, matte, ugly. I used my own shampoo and conditioner and finally got my hair back to how it's supposed to feel - soft, swingy, normal. So I spent almost FOUR HOURS on my hair, had to shampoo/condition/dry TWICE, and what do I have now? Roots that are at least 3 shades lighter than my hair and the rest of my hair is a matte dark brown. So I have to go buy a root touch-up - using money I certainly don't have - just to achieve what I bought all of this to achieve: colored roots, colored hair, with shine and attractiveness. AND I got another bottle in the mail and was charged for it because I guess I didn't cancel quickly enough. I am deeply disappointed - I just wanted to do one nice thing for myself so I would at least feel better about myself as I struggle thru a very hard time. I ended up losing money and gaining some very ugly, gummy hair.

My order looked amazing and I couldn't wait to try it. Application - tricky with the bowl and brushes but it was because I'm not used to doing colour that way. The result looked great for about 4 days then greys started to show through and colour lifted so my hair was lighter than I actually wanted. Esalon were good and have changed my formula hopefully this time the results will last longer.

After giving Esalon the opportunity to help me save money I find my hair dulling out very quickly. I use permanent color. Typically my hair feels stronger, silky and has awesome body when freshly colored. I have not had that experience. My hair has no body, dulls quickly and feeds like straw when freshly colored. I will be terminating my relationship with Esalon. You may have different results as everyones hair is different. It is always worth a try.

I've only tried the product once and was shocked when I was finished and carefully started to comb my hair out and a huge chuck of it came out, I had also used a leave in hair treatment that I use after every wash. I'm also surprised at how fast the color fades considering I use very expensive color treated shampoo & conditioner. All my grey is peaking through so I'm going to try the root touch up this one time and see what happens. I really like the color it's a perfect match to my original, I just pray I don't lose another glop of hair because I don't have much to spare.

I really want to love eSalon. It's such a terrific idea. The customer service was super helpful when I contacted them. The color was very different than I expected but that could be the fault of my perception. I was aiming for strawberry blonde & I ended up with dark red. eSalon website has a great FAQ section that I used to get tips on lightening the color. I left the color on the length of my hair for the recommended time (I believe it was 5mins). I started the time once I'd gotten the color distributed throughout. Maybe I was supposed to start it when I put the color on the 1st section..? I have fine hair. I've spent more money on deep conditioners recently that I would've payed my professional colorist to do my hair in the 1st place. It's very strawlike now & I'm doing everything I can to avoid cutting it all off. I look terrible with short hair so this ought to be a fun summer. I think eSalon is great option for people with a different hair type. Hope it works for you!

I just colored my hair last week and concentrated on the part on top of my head and around my face as that's where the majority of the gray resides. I just noticed some gray today! I feel like I got better/longer coverage with what I was using before. I do love the extra touches that are put into each box.

Easy to use, gentle on my hair. After only 2 washes with a sulfate free shampoo on lukewarm water all color has left. My hair takes color very well and I followed all instructions. I darkened my hair just slightly and I'm back to original color. Not sure if I'll re order again.

I requested less red and more golden brown. Although the changes were made as I requested, I wanted more red left in the color. I guess I should have requested "slightly less red". It was as if the red was no longer there although I know that it was still listed on the color formulation. On a good note, I always get lots of compliments on my color, and when I tell people that it is hair color, they are very surprised because it looks so natural! Yay!

I have used hair color at home for years. From boxed dye to professional formulas, and never have I had any issues. I tried eSalon for my usual dark brown haircolor, and am horrified by the results. I followed the directions for root and length application to a T. The result? Hot roots! I have a lovely orangey-brown ring around my crown. I will be sticking to other hair color options from now on.

Not the best gray coverage

I love the convenience factor, whereby I receive a shipment based upon a schedule of my choosing. The color match is great! Where I feel this product falls short, is in covering up all my gray.
The first box I received have some additional pre-treatment product, which seems to do an amazing job. I was under the impression I would continue to receive those pre-treatment products with each shipment… Alas that is not the case

Easy to use, doesn't seem damaging. The color it deposited was even and nice, it was just very very similar to my current color, not what I was expecting. Be very clear when ordering! For me it was hard to find an image to match my natural hair color-- this may have been where things went wrong.

The kit was easy to use and once applied it did not drip.
I had a little fright when I looked in the mirror before I rinsed as it looked black, of course once rinsed it was blonde.
If you have short to medium length hair I would recommend you only use half the shampoo .

First time I ordered your product I needed to colour my roots after having had my colour & highlights at my hairdresser after 2 weeks!
Cannot go every 2 weeks therefore gave a go at your products went to your website & follow the instructions (description if my hair needs photo etc After a couple of weeks received your products :open the box read the instructions closed the box ! I was nervous w”what if it messes my hair lots of negative thoughts A week later needed my roots to look impeccable so I tried. I was amazed by the results it really looks like it was done professionally. I used only half the tint product hopefully I will use the balance when I need it next. Thank you

I really like the two colors one for the roots and one for the lengths. I’m so happy not just one flat color for the whole hair. Only thing is my gray kinda turned goldish green but that happens with gray hair at times plus my hair picks up red/gold easily.

Ich habe den eSalon über eine Online-Promotion entdeckt und zu Sonderkonditionen ausprobiert. Eine Einzelbestellung (ist sehr klar und einfach gekennzeichnet auf der Webseite, keine Missverständnisse möglich - Super, dachte ich...) aufgegeben und bestätigt bekommen. Produkt kam zügig, hübsch verpackt mit allem was man braucht. Sehr nett.
ABER einige Wochen später bekomme ich eine Email und zeitgleiche Paypal-Abbuchung (die ich NICHT authorisiert hatte): "blablabla, Abo!".
Als ich mich telefonisch beschwerte wurde das Geld sofort zurückgebucht, ohne Diskussion - aber mir die Schuld zugeschoben.

I was a bit worried leaving the choosing of my colour in someone else's hand as I usually deliberate over box colours for days before finally settling on the exact shade I want. But by using the shade picker and describing my wants I got just the right shade of brown!
I have found it's faded a little faster then I expected, but I have coloured my hair a few times I a row trying to get it right so perhaps that's something to do with it.

Spot on colour a few weeks on it's still vibrant. The ends are a little faded but I am bleached under this so not surprised. I'm looking forward to redoing my roots and seeing how it continues to colour.

I was a little sceptical about buying this as I get ripped off by well marketed products all the time. Well, this time I really wasnt, the process was so easy, uploaded my photo and my colour was chosen. I was contacted by the stylist within 24hrs as a courtesy. The package arrived well before I was expecting it and the quality of each item was unbelievable, looked as though id spent hundreds of pounds. The process was well instructed and I managed it ok! My bathroom however wasnt but that is down to me lol! I washed and dried it and im so happy with the colour! My hair is incredibly porous so needed a quick spritz of shine spray and ive just saved myself £80+ and a whole morning spent at a salon, im more than impressed and will definitely tell everyone I know to try you! Ive just cancelled my next hair salon appointment im that thrilled.

Everything I needed was included . There was a question I needed answered during the process and the online chat could not understand. Not a huge issue, but for a first time use, quicker response time would have been better. Over all I thought the product was great and will continue to use and recommend

Nachdem ich meine grauen Haare mit Drogerieprodukten nie ganz graufrei bekommen habe, hier eine Farbversprechen, welches hält, was es verspricht.
Das erste mal färben war 1000mal besser als vorher, aber noch nicht perfekt.Kurze Info an Haarstylist , Rezeptur wurde angepasst und die 3 grauen Haare die noch durchschimmern hat mein Pinsel wohl nicht erwischt.Besser geht es im Salon auch nicht, dafür ist es wesentlich günstiger.Ein Dankeschön an euch.

I was dying my hair and it didnt seem to be turning a darker color while I was applying. So I freaked out(it was not on the full 30 minutes). Washed it and I was so surprised. It covered the gray, made roots lighter and mesh with the rest of my hair I actually love it. I didnt even use the whole application either. I thank you and need to have more faith in you all taking care of me.

And I’ve never given a review! Great company so responsive and great product. Department store hair dyes are so drying. That’s why I switched to esalon 13 years ago and I don’t have that problem anymore.

Ich habe das erste Mal bestellt und bin etwas enttäuscht. Die Farbe fällt etwas dunkler aus, damit kann ich leben. Was mich extrem gestört hat, war der stechende Geruch. Das ging so auf die Atemwege und brannte total in den Augen, dass die Tränen kamen. Das hatte ich noch bei keiner Farbe, auch nicht bei den Drogerie Produkten.
Das Shampoo war sehr gut, dadurch wurden die Haare schön weich und man kam gut mit den Fingern durch. Auch waren die Längen nicht so ausgetrocknet als bei anderen Haarfarben.
Jedoch die Deckkraft am Ansatz lässt zu wünschen übrig. Da ich vorne schon grau bin, schimmert es immer noch silbrig durch und ist am Ansatz etwas heller als der Rest.
Trotzdem gebe ich dem Ganzen noch eine 2. Chance. Bin gespannt, wie es beim nächsten Mal ausfällt.

Clear instructions, kit includes everything you need including gloves, stain barrier and remover, and the product itself was great, I am happy with the outcome. It was sadly my own mistake that I didn’t put quite as much into my roots as ends, but I know for next time 😅 will look forward to receiving my next kit when it’s time to re-dye. Also: I stated I had keratin treated hair and needed it to be compatible with that and so far, so good. It doesn’t seem to have impacted the treatment at all.

I sent my colorist a picture of my hair and a picture of some fake hair I wanted to wear next week on my trip to New York. I can’t believe she got it exactly not close, not almost it is exactly what I asked for, picture perfect. Thank you thank you thank you 😊

Paid over 400 00 in NYC @John Sahag for years, till I realized the prices were insane.
Found eSalon and low and behold, I was AS HAPPY with my results here as I was at the salon
Color covers all my gray
Shampoo and conditioner are SUPERB and my hair feels like a million dollars the day I color and use the shampoo and conditioner.

I will never purchase my hair colour from anywhere else. I was having uneven hair colour issues which had been going on for ages and nothing I did was sorting it without giving me unwanted hair tones. eSalon have sorted this out for me on the first go…. I am beyond delighted.

I want to preface this by saying I am very impressed for the price I paid. The colour is not exactly 100% what I was expecting, but it is much better than it was. My hair feels soft and healthy, and the colour is even and vibrant. Compared to the colour on the chart, i would say it is darker and still a little warm, it's like a chocolate brown! This could be due to the colour I have underneath.

I used for the first time this morning. I have very fine hair so I rarely use conditioner. It flattens my hair. I got a perm last week so thought I’d try it My hair is very soft and didn’t make it flat But as directed I did not put on roots I like it

I was not sure about ordering a color on line but decided to give it a try. I have been coloring my hair for at least 20 years. I found that the color looked good for about 1 1/2 weeks, so I was skeptical. I received my order from you quickly and tried it with in 2 weeks. The color looked really good when I put it on and seemed to oxidize over night and I was not sure how I felt. With in a couple of days I got to were I liked it. Decided to keep it the same color. I found over time that the color was holding firm. For the first time in a long time the gray was not coming through in less than 2 weeks. I may change the color a little bit, not sure yet. I absolutely love that the color stays on the hair for a full 4 weeks. The color was still very good when I did my 2nd treatment.. Thank you for a product that looks so good, shines so bright and last so long.

This is a lovely colour, nice warm copper and blonde tones, but it is really struggling to cover the grey. It's probably not fair to blame Esalon for this, as I chose the colour I wanted, and it's probably not a very good colour for covering grey hair. However I don't want to go any darker, and so I'm happy to put up with it. Totally recommend this company though. Everything is very easy to follow and the hair is left in great condition afterwards.

I couldn’t have gotten better color at the salon. The color was absolutely perfect. I had 2-3 months worth of root growth, avoiding the salon due to how much it cost. Then I tried ESalon. I wont be returning to the salon any time soon. I can finally afford to keep up my color!

Salon quality hair colour. Easy to maintain my gry and roots touch up . It dose not fully cover my gry hair however I am sure they will adjust and customise my color when I will order my next hair colour .

I have to say that when I opened the kit and started coloring my hard to cover gray roots, I was sure that the color was going to be darker than I wanted. I anxiously waited for the 30 minutes and washed out the color. I was a little disappointed when I saw the wet hair but then I blew dry my hair and I was amazed. The color was the same color my hair was but only better. There are slight variations in the colors and I absolutely love it. Thank you. I will be trying the highlights next!!!!

The color quiz was so easy and they were able to match my color spot on. The first dye set I got was Demi permanent per their request. Unfortunately Demi permanent doesn’t stay in my hair how it’s supposed to. A majority of It washed out by the second wash, however the rinse tint worked so well to add more color pigment to my hair. The second set of dye I got was permanent and it has stayed soooo well and looks beautiful as ever. I love that the dye doesn’t ruin your hair and isn’t harsh on your hair. It feels like it has products in it to protect your hair and make it shiny as well. I highly recommend this product and company. They make the ENTIRE process from the quiz through the dying process.

For years I’ve tried to get stylists to add copper to my hair color. Every time I’ve asked for red, they have gone for cooler tones and argued me into submission. FINALLY I was able to stay within my dark blonde/light brown range with some added copper and it is STUNNING! They somehow managed to add copper without completely obscuring my natural gold overtones. Someone asked me yesterday what treatment I had put on my hair to make it iridescent. I gave them the website and told them to have fun!
My hair is shiny and healthy looking and the gray coverage is excellent. I’m about 40% gray at this point so that’s a big big deal.

I'll never buy any other hair color again. I never had to color my hair until now, as I have white growing in and I'm a natural redhead. I got box dye once and hated it, it was darker than my natural hair and I was constantly bleeding red for a week. I found this website I just did my first application the process seemed less. The color didn't stain anything, my white towel is still white, and the color rinses completely off after you wash it out. I'm very impressed and I won't buy another hair color again, I'm hooked!

Sometimes I have to hold onto my custom color order for a few extra weeks before use; this is one of those times. This new medium brown after application was a little dark, but looked good. After a few washings, the color is "fading" nicely. I have hair that is resistant to all color (these are the roots that went white in my mid-twenties) and this color goes well with those grays. eSalon color is not harsh on the scalp post-coloring and wears well.

Okay, so when I opened the box and saw all the bottles and step by step instructions I thought it was a lot of pal-lava. I am used to just mixing together a box dye, chucking it on and hoping for the best and then disappointed when I have mismatched colour and greys still left. I followed the instructions and it wasn’t as tedious as I thought and I am so chuffed with the results my hair is evenly coloured and not a single grey remained (I had 6 weeks worth of growth). The shampoo and conditioner was enough to wash out excess colour after rinsing and didn’t need to do a second wash with my normal shampoo and I had no tell tale stains thanks to the stain remover that comes with the pack. My hair feels and looks really healthy.

I just wanted to say thank you to eSalon- you did it! It took a few little tweaks but you listened and applied to achieve exactly what I was hoping for. My hair is now that medium brown I have been trying to achieve for YEARS.. The struggle has always been the color pulled brassy-- or it was way too dark. When I reached out to the eSalon team the color was better- but it wasn't exact to what I wanted- then I wrote to your experts a second time - small tweak- but still not perfect- third time around wrote again- moment of silence... PERFECT! THANK YOU!

I absolutely appreciate the 1 on 1 help from my colorist helping me achieve the color I am most comfortable with. Our home has well water with significant amounts of iron. This leads to a brassy color that my colorist has helped tone down. My natural color is quite grey and I have chosen to go blonde so when the grey starts to come through it is not as noticeable as with a darker shade.
My biggest wish is if esalon had a smaller size mixture for people with short hair. I feel the amount I use is 1/3 of the total mixture so I feel it is such a waste of product and in another sense an expense that could be reduced for me if my mixture was divided into 3 portions so I could use it 3x or else purchase a smaller amount. I get packaging costs money and to divide into smaller bottles would not necessarily save me money due to added cost of more vials but I just feel it is wasteful to only need such a small amount of the mixture. I wouldn't need extra gloves, shampoo, conditioner, etc but would gladly pay $45 every 90 days just to get 3 sets of the color and developer in smaller portions in one shipment. Just an idea I wish esalon would consider for those of us with very short hair. It has been a reason why I have been a start/stop user because I can't get past the fact that I pay for product that I toss 2/3 away each time.
If you ever have that option for those of us with very short hair sign me up! Your color selections are great, your service is great, your quality is the best and the ease of doing the application is a big plus! I am a fan and recommend esalon to anyone who prefers to color at home vs going to a salon.

I colored my hair today, at home, for the first time in many years. The colorist listened well to me, and the results are very good! The only problem I encountered was difficulty pouring the final rinse of color over my hair...it ran down my face, and I got it in my eye. I wonder if I can just lather my hair with water, instead of pouring it from the bottle.

I was very apprehensive when I first got the package and thought I would just go back to my hair colorist. But wow was I wrong. After preparing everything I followed the instructions and began the process. It was a little cumbersome but hey, for the cost difference I could deal with it. I was so excited to see the beautiful color after I washed it out.
It COVERED ALL THE GRAYS and I think it turned out better than the salon. So, my bathroom is my new hair salon unless I want a cut. Now I have to figure out how to tell my stylist. I just love her and we’re good friends. I’m sure she’ll understand especially after she sees the quality off the product. Thank you for saving me $$$!
