I just cannot rock grey roots; call me vain if you will. Without the ability to go to a stylist I decided to try ESalon, though my only expectation was to cover my gray and brighten my color. The problem was that my shoulder length hair has gotten very light blonde, while a good 3-4 inches from root is a slightly darker, though still light blonde.
I sent in a picture of my hair color, purchased a color kit and then, unsure of my selection, spoke with a specialist. Best decision as she pointed out that in order to darken the length of my hair, I would need a full color correction, so we opted to go with matching existing color, making sure that I had a cool-toned blonde.
The package came, husband was handy and thanks to quarantine, there wasn’t much else on the calendar other than sudden home hair appointment. I read directions, had my husband do the very back, and 30 minutes later, it washed the color out. It was time for the blow dry test; you know - wet vs. dry hair can look dramatically different. By the time I finished drying my hair, I was blown away by how gorgeous the color looked: shiny, healthy with a very natural look without that flat look box coloring gives while my gray is completely covered.
It has been a month and a new order of the same color is coming along with a highlight kit. I’m a complete convert. I can color my hair at my convenience in my home at a fraction of the salon cost, I love my stylist, and will continue to support her business, but I’ll be able to spend far less.

I am thrilled by this whole process. The kit which arrived was so well put together and professional - it really gave me confidence in the product. The instructions were clear and the kit gives you everything you could possibly need (though an extra pair of gloves would've been so useful for the shower!). The only problem was - ME!! Turns out I am not very good at sectioning my hair so I wound up with a bit of a bird's nest on top of my head as I tried to separate the root sections I'd already done with the lengths of my hair which I was trying to keep out of the way... ended up with a bit of patchiness and uneven colour but nothing you would really notice at a casual glance. Next time I might try applying it right from the bottle, rather than with a bowl and brush. Feels like it might be easier. Kudos to eSalon and my colorist, though -great for a first time experience at home!

One star for the website (tries to force you into scheduled shipments over and over, constantly offers unwanted products, not user friendly, had to contact customer support for assistance with changes that needed to be made). Five stars for product- color was exactly what I wanted. Please fix online experience because the product is great.

Only reason I dropped the rating is because it’s too much just for roots. I have used before and kept it to use later only find it burst out causing stains on the bathroom. So this time I used the left over for my full head. Not what I asked for but didn’t want to waste it

My previous do it yourself color projects were always a disaster. Not so with Esalons! The color is absolutely perfect! It took a little while to get the color delivered most likely because of the pandemic. But it was worth the wait!

With the exception of the slight red tint at my roots I love the color. I did it by myself and it was easier than I thought it would be. Instructions made it super simple. Will consult on the next order about adjusting the red tint out!

I have to admit I was sceptical. Based on my cousins suggestion (who's hair is almost the same color as mine) I ordered your product. It turned out just a little darker than I usually wear but it will lighten in the sun. Your mixologist are amazing that they can get this close to my natural color by just a photo. My 1 complaint would be that I barely had enough product to complete my hair. I have long very thick hair and apparently would need to order 2 sets in the future.

The first time i got my color i did the test for my color and I left photo showing that the color sis not work. Then I asked if I can put it in all my hair instead of only the root and nobody had asnwer me yet But then they answer me and They adjust my color they send me my mee color amd I try it and it look great. Overall I have been very pleased with my orders. However the last order did not have the same amount of product I had received before, which I can break up into 2 uses, and the cost was increased. from a little over $20. to $27.+ I would like some pink added to the red composition if possible as it holds my color longer. Can you check in with me before you ship my next order?

I usually have my root touch up every 4 weeks with my colorist and have been in isolation for 7 weeks now. Needed to cover the grays. Color came out as expected. The only complaint I have is that the colorist emailed me and expressed that the color was darker then my current color. I responded to the message explaining that my regular colorist gave me specific instructions on color and to keep what I ordered. No one ever responded to my message and it was shipped out a few days later without acknowledging my email. Shipping took much longer then what they quoted but I expected that from quarantine.

I think it's a really useful set and super easy to use.
My only negative is that my roots have come out too dark and too brown for the colour through the lengths. Waaaaay darker brown that I have ever been. If that could be tweaked I'd use it again (and I have had my hair coloured only at salons for approx 15 years)

The medium Ash Blonde was a little too dark and had way too much red in it. I wanted enough toner included so my results were more ashier than red or golden.

This was my first purchase through Esalon. The product is good and easy to use instructions but the overall colour finish is lighter than a dark brown with mahogany red. The end colour is redder than I thought the finish would be.

The color created for my root touch up blended perfectly with my previous color and highlights. However, the shampoo and conditioner provided left a nasty film on my hair. I will continue to purchase the root color but I’m just going to toss the shampoo and conditioner packets and use my own.

Finally used despite having 1 inch roots due to lockdown. Was a bit faffy and more complicated than those at boots but results are great. Will see how it looks in a month. Might go slightly lighter. Only problem how do I tell me my hairdresser she has done my colour for 15 years

So the day salons closed here due to Clovid, I had highlights put in my dark brown hair, hoping with the additional toner that things would work out for a while. I have waist length, thick hair. Given the quarantine, I haven’t been washing it frequently, as it is a chore. Even so, the toner prob didn’t set long enough at the salon and I was a brass (Sun-In) looking mess. I wish I could provide the before and after pictures!!
I liked that Esalon provided a questionnaire and could take my (Native American) skin and hair tones into account.
When the kit arrived, it said the color chosen was dark brown, which freaked me out a little bit. Made me think of store bought dark brown, which is REALLY dark. Having uploaded a pic in the consult, and reading reviews, I went for it!!
Awesome!! Even though the picture I submitted was trash and no where close to my natural color, I colored it today and I am so pleased with the result!! Be not afraid! Absolutely worth it! And the quality was wonderful. Not all drippy like store bought hair color. My kit came with a bottle of color for roots and a bottle for my length. I had more than enough leftover to lather up with for step 3, (you put water in the developer bottle and lather the leftovers into your hair).
I typically use salon Moroccan shampoo, but the shampoo is a dream!! Like I said, my hair is super long. I squeezed out about half of the packet and it was a foamy slice of heaven.
I plan to subscribe to the shampoo and will continue the color as well.

the instructions were easy to follow and almost everything was included in the kit. I have two complaints. I paid for a cape that didn't come. The second is that the instructions advise you to clip your hair in four sections. I feel that clips should be included in the kit. Otherwise it was a pleasure to use -- and in my entire life, I've only colored my hair twice!

I have yet been able to use my new colour as I had shingles over Christmas and still have a slightly sore area above my left eye. It should clear in a week or so, then I will be able to get stuck in!!

I don't have a reference if this is more expensive than any store bought product? Since, I am using this during Quarantine. We'll see how things go for my next application if I need to continue with the product? Or go back to the salon? I love my hair stylist and would prefer her over my doing this myself. Plus, I love her formulation and product. Yet, what eSalon gave me is close to it and I'm so happy to have it! Just seems expensive? But, then again I have no reference for products? I think $22 is a lot just for root application. Then, you have to also buy the root refresher. My gray didn't fully cover? But, where it did cover, I believe I put the application on much thicker. So, next time I
ll make it much thicker! I look forward to doing this once more to see if the thickness of application will cover the gray. I found eSalon when I was looking for a color that I could use for a self -tape audition. It did deliver well for that purpose. Now, I can see the fades of gray as my red fades more so. Which is disappointing. However, like I said, I believe applying it much thicker will change that factor I hope....

I very much like the color. Nearly dead on match to my young adult natural color. I am 69 now, though, and think I would like it to be bit warmer or more golden so the contrast with my skin is not as great.

I wish I could give you 5 stars. Loved the color, but I could not keep it on the required time because the smell was too strong and affected my breathing. I've never had a color that burned my eyes from the fumes before. It's me not you. so sorry

My custom root tint was a perfect match. However, instructions did not advise me to keep color on an additional 10-15 minutes for grey-resistant hair. Luckily I didn’t use the full bottle on first application but I had to reapply in some areas after washing/drying. Just an FYI. Also, hard pass on the shampoo/conditioner included. Overall very pleased with this service.

Update: unfortunately the gray roots came back in about 3 weeks and I can't afford to keep paying this price for a root touchup.

It was easy, hair felt great, did not ruin my highlights. My only issue_ did not cover stubborn grays and they are right in the front. :( I followed instruction s to a T &n redid same spot 3 times, still did not work. I am hoping it colorist will change formula before my next shipment schedule May 1st. HELP!!!

Pros- very low price made this first try a low risk experience. The colorist corrected my selection and was right! Color is very nice although I just needed to touch up basic med brown roots.
Cons- no bowl or protective cape were provided; I improvised and wore a garbage bag.... instructions had no illustrations to help. My biggest annoyance was the fact that plastic clips didn’t come with the set. No message of any kind anywhere prepped me with saying please buy plastic clips.. I couldn’t divide my hair and it was a torture. I couldn’t do the back of my head as I didn’t have clips and also messed up the front so the end result is that under daylight my roots are still visible. I would need to buy the kit again with add on clips in order to fix this properly. But overall this has potential! I will keep going to the salon unless I get this figured out :)

This is a fairly good product overall, but no one can match my hair like I do. Typically, I buy two or three boxes of drugstore (Revlon has no ammonia) and mix my own custom color. My hair has an ash cast to it, but I guess that didn't read in the photo or my remarks to the colorist because the color was the right shade, just not the right hue. It was WAY TOO RED, so now I have red roots and brown hair. I know it's hard to tell from a photo... I've used this company in the past, so I may give them another try.

I just received the order on Friday, April 24th. It took longer than I expected for the delivery. The colour was good but I had a difficult time applying to the back of my head and I missed a big area at the top because of the clips still in place. I also feel like I need a hair salon sink for the rinsing because my bathroom is very small and I did not want to get the hair colour all over the bathroom.

Excellent coverage albeit a bit messy. The smell is what really gets you when you're washing the color out of your hair but I think the color came out exactly as pictured. I have black brown hair so it's hard to tell but the pigment did deposit onto the highlighted brassy parts of my hair nicely.

Ich war auf der Suche nach einer braunen Farbe ohne Rotstich und genau mit diesem Aschigen Unterton. Ich muss allerdings dazu sagen, dass meine natürliche Haarfarbe schon sehr nah dran ist. Allerdings ist meine Naturhaarfarbe durch viel Sonne etwas verblasst und ich habe einige weiße Stränchen die ich abdecken wollte...Ich muss noch die Farbe genaue anpassen. Danke eSalon

I like just about everything about this service. The color is terrific, it lasts, and I like the kit that comes every time. What I don’t like is all the packaging. If there was a way to opt in for less packaging and just reuse the bottle and/or bowl rather than getting all the plastic each delivery, then I would rate 5 stars.

Color products are easy to use and leave my hair soft. Also, they don't have a strong smell. I love that I can adjust my order and request adjustments to my color. My only complaint/comment is that I need to remember to super-saturate the parts of my hair that are more color-resistant because it takes a lot of product to cover the grey in those spots.

I usually have my hair professionally colored every 5-6 weeks. Unfortunately, due to the Covid Pandemic, I am unable to meet up with my hair colorist for my scheduled appointment. Walking around with my grey roots is not something I want to do and so I found out about eSalon via Youtube. I was skeptical at first, but saw such positive reviews through different Youtube people that I decided to try it. Product came in a lovely box and personalized just for me. The results are wonderful. Although it was difficult to color my own hair (mostly the back of it), the final outcome was great. My hair looked shiny and 99% of my greys were covered. The other 1% that wasn't covered, was due to, accidently applying some of the protection staining cream, onto my temple greys. Now that I know this, next time, I will be able to avoid this and get 100% grey coverage. I will be saving over $100 every 5-6 weeks from now on, as I will be using eSalon from here on out. I'll continue to visit my hair stylist for a hair cut only. I will definitely recommend this product to my friends and family.

When I read the information about the product, it mentioned a lot of good things and that it was free of lots of chemicals; when you open the color bottle, it smells a lot and as you are coloring your hair it smells pretty bad too

Even though I left it on longer than suggested because I have very stubborn gray, it still came out a lighter shade on my roots than the rest of my hair. It’s subtle but I can see the roots coloring vs the other color

Die Farbe ist echt toll, allerdings war der Versand sehr lange (ja ich weiß- Corona), aber ein genaueres Lieferdatum wäre schon gut gewesen, war kurz davor eine Farbe aus der Drogerie zu holen. Mal sehen wie lange die Farbe hält. Für kurzes Haar ist es fast zu viel Farbe, schade um die Farbe die dann in den Gulli geht. Toll wäre die Farbe auf zweimal aufteilen zu können oder für Kurzhaar eine kleinere Verpackungseinheit für weniger Geld.

It blended perfectly with my roots, but doesn't cover gray very well. Needs to have gray coverage. Will try one more shipment and hopefully it will work better if it has something added for gray.

Before I found E-Salon, I went to a professional salon three times for my color. It turned out absolutely horrible. I asked for a golden light brown with a hint of copper highlights, and my hair turned out to be pure orange. The next time I went another so-called pro and she made my hair a purplish-red.. another catastrophe! And, the next time I worked with a third so-called 'color expert' and this time my hair color turned out to be a deep burgundy. I just hated my hair. Even my doctor looked at me and said, 'What on earth did you do to your hair color?" That is when I decided to either go back to using color in a box which never worked well for me or to try E-Salon. I decided to give E-Salon a try.
I have dyed my hair three times now using E-Salon's custom hair color. The first time I told my colorist I wanted to calm down the burgundy color and make it more coppery. It worked exactly right. The second time I asked for their lightest brown with a little golden hues in it. I got EXACTLY what I wanted! Well, today was the third time I used E-Salon color going with a repeat of my last order, and I love it even more this time than the last.
I have learned a lot about hair coloring from E-Salon. Their instructions really are different than color in a box. When I do my final three to five minute rinse through my hair ends by combining the leftover color in the applicator with water, it really does blend the ends beautifully. This is a step I never did before and I really believe this is key to make my all over color blend so well. I cannot thank E-Salon colorists enough for their expertise and for always being here to help me if I need anything at all. I will always stay with E-Salon going forward!! I recommend them 100% !!

Haven't colored my hair at home for over 20 years but your color was truly amazing. As good or even better than how my hair looks after going to a salon. A little hard, logistically, to pin my hair up since I have very thick and very curly hair. The only problem I would note is that because my hair is very thick, there wasn't enough color to completely cover all the roots and then pull some color through ends as noted in the directions.

During this corona business, my hair was looking just dreadful. Grey was showing through by nearly 2 inches and the colour was almost ginger. i was nervous about using the colour as I normally pay over £100 in my usual salon.
From the start, the whole kit looked so professional and personalised which is a lovely touch.
I bought the extra kit , so the bowl, brush, clips and I'm glad I did. There was no cape but I just cut a hole in a large charity plastic bag and put my head through it and it was fine. It looked quite dark during processing and I was a bit worried but being in lockdown I thought it wouldn't matter anyway. After I had dried and styled it, I was really thrilled. it is a perfect color. Just need it cutting now1 But at least I feel human again. Thanka you so much. You have made my day.
