Custom color makes a difference, especially for previously lightened hairI hadn't dyed my own hair in over a decade when I ordered my custom color set, so I was definitely a little nervous about how it would turn out! I had grown out balayage that had become pretty brassy overtime. My natural hair color is golden medium brown and the custom color I ordered is about 2-3 shades darker than my natural color, so I was just wanting to go back to what I had before. I'm so thankful that my eSalon colorist reached out a few days after I placed my order to let me know they were including Colorfill in my kit for free. Apparently if I'd dyed the pre-lightened part of my hair without using the Colorfill on it first, it likely would have turned out with a greenish tinge. I'm so glad my colorist actually looked at the photos of my hair and provided a solution to avoid that outcome! If a real person hadn't reviewed my order and adjusted it based on my hair in the photos I provided, I probably wouldn't have been as happy with how my color turned out. The color kit was easy to use and my hair color looks beautiful, rich, and natural with no greenish tinge. I will say that maintaining brunette color on pre-lightened hair is challenging, especially if you're like me and can't tolerate washing your hair any less than 2-3 times per week. I'd definitely recommend getting some sort of color-depositing conditioner/co-wash, or making your own by adding brown demi-permanent dye to regular conditioner/co-wash. Make sure to saturate your hair with product and leave it on for about 5-7 minutes before rinsing. eSalon is a great option for folks who want custom color but don't want to pay $75+ at the salon every 4-6 weeks to maintain it. For reference, I'm a 30-year-old woman with no grays yet. Easy and Great ColorI never liked doing home color, but e-salon has gotten me through the quarantine without a hint if gray. One shipment was lost and this was handled expeditiously by your Customer Service team. FabulousI love this hair colour kit. I don’t colour my hair that often and for a while I stopped all together. Then, I came across the eSalon and I loved my hair again. My natural hair is mousey brown with grey streaks all around the crown, medium length and fine texture. This colour covers grey hair well and it turns my hair into a very natural, rich dark brown tones. I found that my hair gets a bit brassy after a few washes. To try and fix this, I’m modifying my hair colour kit to add more ash. I hope that will neutralizes the warm tones. Overall, fantastic product, great personal packaging and easy instructions. All I need to worry about now is how to break up with my colorist.My hair situation is so complicated - it's long and my base color is dark brown, although it was much lighter before I had my 3 (now adult) children. I'm in my early 50s and am getting a fair # of grays now. I am in the sun and salt water every day. Try as I do to protect both my skin and hair, it's tricky. I have been going to the same colorist for decades in order to keep the natural, sun-kissed look of my 20s, and he has always warned me that I must never, never try at-home color. When the pandemic made salon visits impossible, I decided to bite the bullet and try eSalon. Based on the detailed profile and picture I sent in, the colorist assigned to my "case" suggested some tweaks to my original request,. As long as I was in for the proverbial penny, I said "sure" & sure enough, my box arrived very soon. After so many years of watching the pro at work on my head, I felt pretty confident going through the steps of coloring my roots, but I did appreciate the clear and simple instructions to safeguard my existing (and very expensive) baliage. (Loved the little sticker to put them up on my mirror so I could see!) The results are ... wow. Absolutely brilliant. I could not be happier with my base color & the way it blends with my ombre. I have so much confidence now, I am going to try touching up my highlights as well once the eSalon highlighting kit is back in stock ... and considering the money and time I just saved (I always found the hours in the salon amidst all the noise and requisite chit-chat a little tedious), I may not go back even when restrictions are lifted.
