Comparison to Madison ReedI have to say that I like the overall outcome of the eSalon product. However, I did not like the smell! It came across as a harsh product by the smell and felt like I was putting a lot of chemicals on my head (probably was :(). I did not experience this with Madison Reed whose product was pleasant to smell. Now as to the color, much prefer eSalon. Madison Reed's product continued to wash out with every shampoo even though it was a permanent color. I have washed my hair for the first time since coloring with eSalon and there wasn't even a tint of color that came out of my hair :). Within 2-3 weeks of coloring with Madison Reed, I was a washed out version of my original color. Both seemed to cover gray well. A wet drippy super stain mess.My first prdee was perfect. I was so happy I immediately went to auto ship. The second set was awful. Drip, stain mess! Awful. First time user....I used my new kit today. It came with the root color separate from the end color. It wasn’t complicated and smelled so good. My scalp was not itchy and dry and my color is nice and even. My grays are banished and my ends are not muddy! I will want to adjust my next color however as I would like a darker and richer outcome but for the first time trying this, I was impressed. Custom Color Was PerfectI had light over processed ends and dark roots. My color stylist was able to mix a color for me that blended the two dimensions together perfectly! Did an ok job-but not what I expectedThe color did an ok job covering up the red tones that were coming through since I went from bleach blonde to darkest brown for the fall. There’s still some slight redness in the top even though I followed the instruction to the T. My biggest concern and why I wanted to try Esalon was that because I had aggressive chemotherapy last year due to aggressive breast cancer. Since chemo my skin is super sensitive. While I noted all this in my profile, it was a pretty harsh chemical treatment. While I was extremely careful with my ears, I got some minor burns on them that I have to use liquid bandage on.
